On August 13, 2012, Kittitas County experienced one of it’s most devastating fires in recent years. Welding operations during construction of the Taylor Bridge combined with windy conditions created a fire that ran quickly uphill and to the East.

Due to my close proximity to the fire from my home in Ellensburg, Washington, I was able to capture images of the first night, many prior to any fire department resources were even on the scene.

In addition to the actual fire, I included images of life in and around the fire camp as well as the aftermath of the fire.
