A black and white photograph of the old industrial machinery at Gas Works Park, Seattle, Washington.
Any trip to Seattle, Washington must include a trip to Gasworks Park. On the north shore of Lake Union, the park provides beautiful views of the city across the lake.
A chief attraction is the remnants of the coal gasification plant. Operating from the early 1900s through the 1950s, the City of Seattle purchased the land and turned it into a park.
The industrial machinery and structures provide great photo opportunities. When making this photograph, I wanted to capture details of the old machinery. I used my long lens to zoom in to create abstract-like images.
Monochromatic colors, combined with texture, light, and shadow, make a pleasing black-and-white photograph.
