I've spent many hours exploring the backroads and small communities of Washington, photographing old barns, farmhouses, abandoned buildings, and the rural landscapes surrounding them.
Some structures have stood for generations. Others show the effects of weather, neglect, and changing ways of life. I'm interested in their shapes, construction, and the details that remain, from weathered siding and empty windows to old machinery and fences stretching across open fields.
This gallery brings together my black-and-white photographs of rural landscapes and historic structures throughout the Pacific Northwest. Some reflect the region's agricultural past, while others document places and buildings I've encountered during my travels. Many of these photographs came from unplanned stops along rural roads. An old farmhouse, a weathered barn, or a building I'd never noticed before might give me a reason to pull over and spend some time exploring. These places are part of the changing landscape of the Northwest, and I enjoy photographing the details that remain.
