Forests have been part of my photography for as long as I can remember. Throughout the Pacific Northwest, I've explored everything from dense stands of cedar and fir to open woodlands, coastal forests, and isolated trees shaped by wind and weather.
Some photographs begin with a broad view of the forest. Others concentrate on a single tree, the curve of a branch, exposed roots, or the patterns found in weathered bark. Fog, rain, and changing seasons often give familiar places a different appearance.
This gallery brings together my black-and-white photographs of forests and trees throughout Washington and Oregon, including old-growth forests, winter landscapes, and trees that have endured fire or years of exposure. I invite you to explore the collection and find a photograph that speaks to you.
I often return to familiar forests, especially when fog, rain, or seasonal changes offer a different view of the trees. Some of my favorite photographs come from small details that are easy to pass by on a walk through the woods.
